The principal mission of the institute is research and writing in the fields of history, mythology, literature, and the fantastic. Its secondary mission is to aid other writers to improve their work. Finally, the insititute maintains active research facility in the field of progeny development, which conducts pragmatic experiments in the discipline of filliatics, or the nurture of filliae with special emphasis on the use of fantastic literature and writing.
Dr. Maertens holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota. He has years of experience teaching writing and working as a consultant for clients with writing projects. If you have a dissertation, article, novel, or book manuscript that needs the eye of a trained editor and learned adviser, please contact Dr. Maertens at:

Among the branches of the Institute are Bard Woodcrafts, a traditional wandery devoted to the crafting of druid wands and other magical implements. Another branch is the International Research Branch which sponsors travel for our scholars and writers-in-residence. Finally, there is the Linnaeus Endowed Chair of Creative Writing which is presently occupied by Princess Linnea Kristina Peterson Maertens, a promising young writer and expert on many subjects.
