Apple of Afalon Wand
13.75 inches long - unicorn hair core. A beautifully polished apple wand with apple and leaves carved on the shaft and a simple rounded pommel stone. On the handle is the Dakota Four Winds motive that symbolizes the four directions and their mystic powers. The four winds motif also symbolizes completion and wholeness because it unites all of the winds. Apple is the wood of the Celtic Otherworld, the food of the gods and evocative of the Isle of Afalon.

Maple with Oghams and Natural Stag's Head
16 inches - spirit stag's hair core. This wand is of a natural maple branch on which I left some of the little branchlets that form the suggestion of a stag's head with antlers on the handle. On the shaft are carved Irish ogham letters spelling the invocation "The stag of summer." The stag is a traditional druid totem for the South and the element of fire. It is also a central symbol in Celtic myths of the soul that leads the hero to adventure in the forests of the unconscious mind, the Otherworld. In Native American lore, the Deer is a totem signifying sensitivity and liveliness and the energy of flowering. Maple, in the Alferic lore, is a wood of Earth energies, sacred to the Great Mother.

Lightning Bolt Bent Oak Wand
15 inches overall. Dragonscale core. This radically bent oak wand evokes the sudden turn of lightning. I carved and colored a lightning bolt onto the shaft of this wand to symbolize this power of the oak. Oak trees are especially associated with lightning and the bolt of lightning is the essence of light and fire. The bend in this wand also, I think, gives it the look of the bent finger of a crone or old wizard. Good for casting those spells of the crooked path, indirectness, and subtlety. The pommel of the wand is left natural, somewhat rough and angular. Below the bolt is carved the flame motif I used to signify the fire of the magical creative will.

Below a close-up of the lightning bolt carved into the shaft and augmented with copper paint.

Padouk Wand with Seven Planets Motif and Moonstone
12 inches. Phoenix feather core. Seven planets motif on handle - seven rings. A gorgeious pink moonstone reservoir on the pommel. Padouk is a tropical hardwood with a marvelous reddish color, fiery and passionate and a natural smell like vanilla. This wand was shaped on a lathe and then finished by hand and the moonstone mounted in the pommel.
