Magic Wands Unique to Each Client

Measuring to fit a pommel stone

Design Consultation

Imagine the unique wand you want and drop me a note to discuss the possibilities! Send me a drawing. Look through the information here  on trees and stones. Consider symbols and inscriptions you might like. Consult with your spirit guides, then consult with the wandmaker. My desire is to craft a tool and companion who will be with you for many turnings of the year.

MY GUARANTEE

If for any reason, after receiving your wand you feel it is not right, you are welcome to send it back for another try, or to receive a refund.  It is very important for me that every client is overjoyed with their new wand.

The Four Parts of a Wand

There are four basic parts to any magic wand: the point, the shaft, the handle, and the pommel.  The point can be simply tapered or it can include a crystal point of several kinds. Similarly, the pommel, which acts as a reservoir of your magical will, can be carved into various shapes or can include a rounded reservoir stone.  Check out the page on Stones and Crystals for their various magical properties.

The shaft of a wand comprises about two thirds of the length. It may be smooth, textured, carved with designs such as a helical vine pattern or ribbon designed to bear an inscription.  It is usually, but not always set off from the handle by some kind of design -- for example, a motif of three rings that symbolize the three realms of Land, Sea, and Sky.  Or, four rings to symbolize the four winds and four elements.

The handle likewise can be decorated with spirals, leaves, or any other pattern you wish, even an inscription.  It may be convex or concave for comfort.  Because my magic wands are handmade for each client, these many variation s are possible and create a truly unique, one-of-a-kind instrument you will cherish.

Dimensions

What I call Full-sized magic wands range from 12 to 15 inches long. Traditionally, wands are proportioned according to the length of your forearm from elbow to fingertips.  This is not a hard and fast rule.  The important thing is that the length feels right to you.

In addition to length, the diameter or thickness of the wand can vary a great deal but usually is between 1 inch and 2.5 inches at its thickest point (the handle normally).  Included in the price of this category is shaping the wand, simple carvings such as spirals and leaves, an inscription, and your choice of any carved pommel reservoir, stone, or crystal.

Smaller wands are called Pocket Wands because of their conveniently portable size.  Ranging from the smallest at six or seven inches to eleven inches, these wands are priced lower.  The amount of carving and decoration is more limited but they make exquisite little companions.

On the other end of the range are Extra Large Wands longer than fifteen inches.  These are suitable for ceremonial rods or scepters for marriages or group rituals.

Magical Properties of Trees and Stones

The most important choice in a wand is the wood.  In druid lore many characteristics and associations have been attached to the trees. Because I use branches from local trees, the choices I can offer do not include every kind of tree to create these unique, handmade magic wands.  The properties and suitability of the wood for fine carving as well as magic is described in detail on the Magical Properties of Trees page.  And here for Stones and Crystals.

Shipping and Delivery Time

Shipping including boxing, packing, and Priority Mail  comes to about $10.  International shipping costs will be higher and depend on where you live.  You are responsible for checking on any  charges from customs on your end applicable to a unique, handmade, magic wand.

The time it takes to complete your wand will depend on my work load, and on the factors governing enchantment of the wand, such as the moon phase and sign.  Your patience is appreciated.  See: Enchantment for more information on that topic.
